As some of you know, the basic pieces for the show have been assembled. What we have thus far, is one set of batteries = approx 1k+ amp hours, 18 solar panels capable of charging 2 or 3 more battery banks. Several power inverters. Stackable near 7k watts.

A mobile stage. Stage equipment, including sound boards, snakes, cables, and sound system capable of moving a few hundred people.

What is needed is at least one more bank of batteries. They must be decent quality, matched capacity = 12v or 14.4v.

Other things are going to be added to this list.

If you can think of anything…

We no longer have the originally planned stage, so that is now back on the table of needs. There are several viable options, we will build something if another flatbed does not come along. Anybody got a flatbed? -most likely somewhere in west central Oregon.

I have decided to attempt to do a solar powered event at this years gathering, despite the lack of interest and support. This show is not rainbow affiliated, or dependent on the rainbow gathering. We will be doing random shows in the woods after the solstice.

This is the place to find out where.

Well, after the debacle of Rainbow Family – the “Leaders-who-are-not-leaders” arbitrarily choosing a site in Oregon that was so obviously suggested to them by the feds – The Traveling Show is not going to the rainbow.

Even as the ‘rainbow’ has become a null event, the Traveling Show is still happening.

Without the help of others, it has taken one person several months to complete the mobile solar power station. Today the final 4 bolts will be in place to finish the arrays and mounts.

A test is scheduled within the next few days. If successful (and we expect it will be) then the unit will be at the Eclipse Gathering for a music event.

We have no stage as yet, but will be using tarps and carpet to create a compatible ‘ground’ stage.

When the assembly is complete, i will post images of the solar unit.

So, the solar van is almost complete. Got as far as these photos in assembly – discovered i was short some wiring, so have to obtain that to hook it all up.

The Solar Van totally worked. It powered over 20+ hours of music, a good amount of which was after dark.

There is room for improvement on the mounting methods. The design proved successful, and the solar setup was excellent.

Other venues for local musicians are now possible. And if I can do it, anyone with resource beyond bare survival can also.
